How Credits Transfer
We have a variety of tools to help you plan your transition to UNC Charlotte. It’s important to use the right tool at the right time.
- Meet with a Transfer Counselor – Your best option for personalized service! Our transfer counselors are available by phone, virtual appointments, or walk-in meetings. Connect with us!
- Transfer Credit Advisor – The Transfer Credit Advisor is an online database of courses that have previously transferred from colleges and universities nationwide. Please note that the database reflects past transfer decisions and may not guarantee future transfers.
If you are transferring from a NC community college, the list of courses is comprehensive. If you are transferring from a college or university outside of NC, this may not be a comprehensive list as new courses are continuously added.
TRANSFER GUIDES
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) – The North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) is a statewide agreement governing the transfer of credits between NC community colleges and NC public universities. Provides a list of courses included in the CAA and policies related to the agreement.
Transfer Equivalency Self-Service – The Transfer Equivalency Self-Service tool allows you to enter your classes and see how they might count towards graduation requirements in your intended major. Once you enter each class you have taken, you will be able to run an unofficial degree audit based on the information you entered.
- Provides what-if scenarios if you are considering different majors.
- Read FAQs about the Transfer Equivalency Self-Service tool.
College Credit through Examination – Interested in receiving college course credit through examination (AP, IB, or CLEP)? Learn more about credit tests.
Common Numbering System (CNS) – The UNC System created a CNS Transfer Course Search to ease transfer across the 16 public UNC System universities, as well as the School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM). If you used the CNS to plan your transfer, but your official credit evaluation is not showing as you expected, initiate the UNC CNS Transfer Credit Appeal Procedure.
